New at the Arber: Children’s World Cup Parallel Grand Slalom – just like the ‘Grown Ups’ |

Due to very high demand for the simple timed piste at the Thurnhofhang, this has now been expanded to a Parallel Grand Slalom Piste with separate timing.
There are now 2 new start facilities and 2 parallel pistes. These are flagged with blue gates (right hand slope) and red gates (left hand slope). Now fathers can compete directly with their sons or mothers directly with their daughters.
Or friends can have a small competition between themselves. As well as fun, whoever gets through the gates in the best time will be able to see the times for both runs at the finishing point. This means that the skiers can swap courses for the second run and the winner will be the one with the best total time. Or they can just go once. In any case, the ARBER-BERGBAHN rules apply and these are displayed at the start.
This child friendly parallel grand slalom is perfect for ski clubs and ski schools who want to carry out their final races on a course where the gates have already been set out and the otherwise complicated time measurement is taken care of by a fixed, professional timing facility.
Due to the high level of demand, ski clubs who want to book the course are asked to phone the Thurnhoflift to register and enter themselves on the booking list there. Tel. 0049 9925/903056. Use of the timed course is free of charge.

Two starting gates at the new timed course ‘Dead Level at the Start – and they’re off’.

Red gates to the left, blue gates to the right and swap over on the next run.

New this season is a permanent timed ski slope at the Thurnhofhang. This is mainly to make it much easier for ski schools to hold a final race: they do not need to plan and mark the course as this has already been done. A special starting gate has also been built for the purpose at the top of the Thurnhofhang. That means that all users of the timed slope, ski schools as well as clubs and of course many young skiers and ones who want to become skiers, can concentrate on enjoying the facilities.
After crossing the starting line, the youngsters tackle a grand slalom course with gates specially marked out for them. At the finish line there is a board showing the time taken, just like the World Cup. Everyone will want to have a go. Dads can race against sons, mums against daughters, grandpas against grandsons and even grandmas against sons-in-law.
