Family Skiing at ArberLand in the Bavarian Forest.
|
The Großer Arber is the largest and most popular family ski resort in the Bavarian Forest. The highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest has always been known as a traditional skiing area for families. From beginners to leisure skiers to carving experts: everyone finds a suitable slope here. The most family friendly ski resort in Germany offers optimum conditions for beginners as well as returners, with its 6 seater family chair lift on the Sonnenhang as well as the new ArBär-Kinderland with the timed ski slope for children and the 4 new moving conveyor belts. ArberLand has a total of 14 Ski and Snowboard schools with many courses for children and adults. And the Nordhang chair lift and the 6 seater gondola bring advanced and expert skiers almost to the top of the Arber, the starting point for challenging descents back to the valley. The best known descent is the new jet black World Cup Piste, on which Viktoria Rebensburg was the first to win a World Cup race in February 2011. There is good reason to say: „If you can ski on the Arber, you can ski anywhere in the world.“ In addition, there is a 1,200 metre toboggan run, easily reached via the Sonnenhang chair lift. A free Toboggan Bus brings tobogganers large and small from the bottom of the Toboggan Run at theThurnhofhang back to the Sonnenhang chair lift for the 2nd or 3rd toboggan run. Some people just want to spend the whole day tobogganing. There is also a small toboggan run at the ArBär-Kinderland, which can easily be reached via the conveyor belts. You can also use the two new Ski Rental Stations, which are ideal for families with children with their completely new rental equipment (Skis, Boots, Helmets etc.). There is also a test centre at the Sonnenhang base station. And also a new Ski Service Station for edges and coverings. So, everything which you could possibly want is available at the Arber – a modern and popular family ski resort. And because the way to a winter sports enthusiast’s heart goes through his stomach, the Arber has romantic and family friendly mountain huts with good Bavarian cooking. Try it and see!

Learning to ski at the Arber goes from right to left. Many beginners start their skiing at the popular ArBär-Kinderland at the Thurnhofhang on the 4 new child-friendly moving conveyor belts. That is followed by the blue Family Run (Familienstrecke) and the slightly steeper Ladies Run (Damenstrecke). Once you have mastered these blue runs, which can all be accessed via the new 6 seater family chair lift at the Sonnenhang, you are ready to tackle the first red run via the Sonnenhang. This is followed by the other red runs, the Bayerwald and the Böhmerwald runs on the Nordhang, which can be reached via the 6 seater chair lift at the Nordhang. Once you can manage these tougher red runs, then you are ready for the new jet black Lift Run (Liftschneise) under the gondola and the demanding World Cup Run (Weltcupstrecke) on the Arber. You will find pistes with every degree of difficulty here, you just have to align yourself from right to left. |
