The Bavarian Forest is central Europe's largest protected woodland area. On well signposted trails and solitary paths you can get away from everyday life and enjoy nature.

The Arber massif and its highest peak, the Großer Arber, provide a wide variety of walks from relatively easy strolls to more strenuous daytrips.

Here are some of the most popular tours:
>>> Hiking on the Arber plateau
>>> The best paths from the base station to the peak
>>> Bayerisch Eisenstein - Mooshütte - Kl. Arbersee - Großer Arber - Gr. Arbersee - Bayerisch Eisenstein
>>> Brennes - Mooshütte - Kleiner Arbersee - Kleiner Arber - Großer Arber - Brennes
>>> Bodenmais - Rißlochfälle - Großer Arber - Kleiner Arber - Rißloch - Bodenmais
>>> Lohberg - Hinterschwarzenbach - Enzian - Kl. Arber - Gr. Arber - Kl. Arbersee - Sollerbachfall - Lohberg
>>> European Long Distance Hiking Trail E6 (Baltic Sea - Wachau - Adriatic Sea)
>>> Tips for hikers
Treat yourself to a holiday or a nice weekend using public transport.
You can start your tour directly at the railway station or reach the start of your walk by bus. There are parking areas and bus stops at the starting points for the hiking trails. Additionally, you will always find the departure time of the last bus from the Arber base station to your starting point.

Each of the walking tours can be printed on a single sheet of paper.

If you prefer to arrange your own hiking tours, we recommend the map „Fritsch Wanderkarte No. 117“, which can be bought at the gondola base station.
The staff and management of ARBER-BERGBAHN would like to wish you a nice stay at the Grosser Arber
